Today we’re going to mix things up a bit. I’m trying a new format: audio interview. I love the written word, but sometimes listening to a live conversation is so much more interesting. Maybe I’m being guided by my love of podcasts…more likely I just wanted you to get a sample of the magic that is my special guest: Jodi Cohen.

Healing With Essential OilsJodi is a fellow NTP, the founder of my favorite essential oils line Vibrant Blue Oils, and the author of the newly released book, Healing with Essential Oils, which has rapidly become my go-to resource for working therapeutically with essential oils.

I have been intrigued by the power and healing potential of essential oils for years now. I’ve had incredible personal experiences with them and have seen impressive things in my clinical practice.

If you’ve been hanging around the natural health world much lately, I’ll bet you’ve come across essential oils. They’re widely used and promoted in the natural healing communities. And for good reason: their healing potential is significant and impressive.

But something has always bothered me about the way oils are shared, used, and discussed: often going too far and promising too much, and yet at the same time not going far enough. On one hand essential oils can be touted as THE cure for whatever ails you (if only it were that simple); and on the other hand they’re demoted to the DIY beauty and housecleaning category (not a bad use for them, but it seems like they have so much more potential than that).

What attracted me to Vibrant Blue Oils and Jodi’s way of working with them is that instead of being used therapeutically simply to manage symptoms, she has designed these oils to help support the body to come back into balance and thus heal from the inside out.

Now you’re speaking my language.

Don’t get me wrong, there’s nothing wrong with using peppermint oil on your temples instead of reaching for the ibuprophen when you have a headache (I’ve done so many times myself and I think it’s a far better and safer option). There’s nothing wrong with adding a few drops of lavender and frankincense essential oils to your oil cleansing routine (again, that’s a given for me). But does that do justice to what these oils can do?

In a word: no. But don’t take my word for it. Here is my interview with Jodi. I had a ball recording it. For those of you who prefer something written, we’ve included the transcript of the interview here that’s an easy download.

Listen to the interview here.

If you like what you hear, I strongly encourage you to pick up a copy of Jodi’s new book, Healing With Essential Oils. I guarantee you’ll learn a lot and have a whole new vision of how these oils can work alongside the other healing modalities you are currently using.
